I'm writing this on behalf of my mother. This may sound kind of far-fetched but I assure you, it's 100% legit. My question in all this is whether she has the grounds to take legal action if her employment is terminated, or even if it's not just based on the harassment she is currently receiving on a daily basis.
The company is a machine shop, couple hundred employee's. She is the buyer for this company. The president of the company has no purpose in this story, but his son who is the V.P. and his wife whom is the Human Resource manager does.
A few months ago, my mom had a voicemail transfered to her extension. It was the VP's wife (human resource manager) and a very sexual conversation to a operational manager in the place. His name is mentioned in, as well as hers. They talk in detail that shows the VP's wife is in fact cheating on him with this guy. Well, the operational manager, decided to save the conversation to his voicemail but transfered it to my mom's instead (the extensions are very close). She let two trusted people she works with listen to it. When she told me about it, I told her to record it on a tape recorder, then remove it and ignore it as if nothing happened. Which she did.
However, since it happened, working there has become very stressful to her. The VP's wife, on every holiday since that point, gets everyone a gift in the office and seems to rub it in around my mom who she suddenly gets nothing for. This is just an example of the things that have led me to believe they know my mother received this recording, and they are trying to get her to quit. There are many other examples that are going on (and if you need more details of other things I can get them) to make my mother feel harassed but i'm afraid I can't quite remember them at the moment. My mom's father just past away last year, and her mother is now in a nursing home as of recently. She's just gotten on stress medication, and this childish behavior at the workplace is contributing to it. There are other harassment suits that have been filed against this place, including sexual harassment. Anyway, if their goal was pushing her into quitting, it's starting to work. My mother has worked there for nearly 5 years, and she's never gone through the kind of crap they are doing now. Some nerve considering that she was kind of enough to ignore the message instead of telling the lady's husband.
If any further information is required for any of you to come to a conclusion to this, just ask.
Thank you very much for your time.
EDIT: Forgot to add this, which is important. The human resource manager (the vp's wife) has not contacted my mother in regards to her yearly review as well. Yet everyone else has gotten theirs. Just another little thing that's added on to a pile of issues.
