I was caught refunding merchandise to a personal credit card from Nordstrom. I was contacted two weeks after I left the company. I admitted to the act and met with Nordstrom regarding the matter.
I promised to pay the total amount. They said that if I worked with them it would be of my best interest, so that is what I did. I paid them the day I signed papers and promised to pay the remainder within 30 days.
At the end of the conversation and signing of papers they said they would file a police report with the local police department and the police department may contact me regarding this matter.
I am really afraid...I thought that if I paid the money back I was working with Nordstrom to resolve the matter and their would be no trouble.
When I asked the girl what the police department would do she said that they would ask me what happened and look at my history. Well, I have no history and have paid all the money I owe them. She said it was up to them to decide if they want to prosecute me. I was not arrested or booked for the incident.
She told me the police would most likely not do anything because I have paid the money and have no record.
What does this mean? And what is the process like with the police department? Will they even contact me? Please help I'm really nervous!!!
