My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ontario/Canada
My mom got got shop lifting a pair of $5.00 cloves yestrday. She is 73 years old and not fully alert. She thought they were her cloves. The store security and Police laughed it off when she was telling them this, not to mention she is diabetic and she felt her sugar level was lowering form the stress the were putting her through. They did nothing at all. My understanding is that she now has to have her finger prints taken and mug shots.. As a result her health is even getting worse. Is there anything I can do before it gets to that point? Is it standard practice to treat an old women with such abuse. She cried through the whole interigation process and was even given the oportuinity to call a family member. Since she doesn't speak English they just tokk the work of an Italian speaking employee.
