Question Co-Ownership Issues with Boat in California

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: California

I bought a boat with my friend in California. When we arranged the title and registration we put in her name only. We are both on the insurance. Now I have applied for live aboard status with the marina but they won't grant it until we have co-ownership. I need to change the title and registration to co-ownership. My question regards the state taxes. Will we need to pay the full sales tax all over again?

    Thanks for your advice!

Adding someone to the title should not incur an additional sales tax. At least, I've not found anything to indicate that it would.

There is, however, a transfer fee to add the name. It's $17.
