    Default Emancipation in Pennsylvania

Alright, I know you all probably don't want to hear a full life story on my issues, but I'll sum it all up for ya, and try not to make it too boring... Right now I'm a junior in high school, meaning I've got one year left before graduation. I'm getting a job after this quarter, and I'll be saving each and every cent for my own place, schooling, etc. BUT, by the time I graduate, I'll be 17. If I have a high school diploma, have a job (which would supply the money to support myself), and plan on getting a shared apartment as it is to split the rent, would I need parental concent/emancipation? Or would I have the legal right to move out?

Here's the second half of my question. Alright, the guy I'm with now is currently a sophomore in my high school. He's got a pretty cruddy life, and overall needs to get out of that house. Treated unfairly, and a son to parents in my eyes aren't even fit to be parents, he would definately be able to support himself if he were to get emancipated in the next year or so. If he had a job, a car, a lisence, and a place to move into after emancipation, would a court even look at him?

My last question, yeah I know, it's long. (Heh...) I plan on getting a place with him, hence split rent. BUT, he will be moving to West Virginia sometime over the summer (if things go as his parents have planned). If he does get emancipated, and if I do as well, would the law allow him to go out of the state where he was emancipated, to live in an apartment with me?

I'd appreciate all the help I could get, since we both need it...!

    Thanks!

    Default Pennsylvania Emancipation Law

Pennsylvania's emancipation policies vary by county. You may find this information and guide to each county's policy from the Juvenile Law Center to be helpful.

Once you are emancipated under one state's court order, you should be treated as emancipated in any state (but under that state's rules as to what it means to be emancipated).
