Question How Do I File a Motion to Have 2 Separate Cases Run Concurrently

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois

Please help! A friend of mine is facing two different class 3 felony charges (one for forgery, and one for shoplifting) in two different counties (Kane and DuPage, respectively). The forgery charge is older, and there was a warrant out for his arrest for it, but he got arrested on the grounds of the shoplifting charge. So right now if we don't do anything he will have to fight the shoplifting charge first, then afterwards fight the forgery charge.

Does anyone know how we can file a motion to get his charges to run concurrently, so that he can be tried for both at the same time??? What papers/forms do we need to fill out? He hasn't even had his discovery yet so I think we still have time to file a motion to have them run concurrently... it would significantly reduce the time he would serve... Please help!

He needs to be working with his lawyer. He hasn't been convicted yet, and you make it sound like he intends to take his cases to trial, so any motions relating to sentencing would be (to put it mildly) premature.
