Unhappy Are Landlords Required to Change the Locks

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New Mexico

My landkord asked for all of my keys back... I sent him a letter explaining I had made none. He assumed I had. And we have MANY issues w/ each other and I am suing.

Are landlords in NM required to re-key the locks? I can't believe I was living there and other people might be running around w/ keys to what was my home. OR, that I could become a suspect in a break-in!

    Sheesh, thanks!

I'm not aware of any state that requires a landlord to rekey an apartment every time there's a change of tenant.
