Default Legal Protection for My Business

My question involves business law in the state of: Texas

I want to start my own records management business. According to my business idea, I will be handling personal information, i.e. marriage licenses, receipts with credit card numbers. What would I need to do to protect myself legally?

Default Re: Legal Protection for My Business

To start with.... A good set of contracts for dealing with your customers. A good set of internal procedures for handling the information you hold. Depending on whether you're talking about physical records or computerized records, a really good literal or electronic firewall to keep the records safe.
