Default need to move but having issues with roommates

I signed a one year lease with two friends, and the lease doesn't expire until July 31st. I recently decided to go back to school and I need to move out of town to start attending. I spoke to the landlord and got permission to have someone replace me on the lease. I have been looking for over 2 months now, but my roommates (who I started having problems with 4 months into the lease) are making it difficult for me to find someone. They set very specific guidelines about what they wanted in a new roommate which makes it difficult to find someone as it is. When I do find someone who could meet their standards, they refuse to meet with the person. I need them to sign off on me going off the lease, but if they won't even meet with the person to okay them, I can't be taken off the lease. I need to start school in about 3 weeks and I'm desperate to get out. Do I have any other options? The two of them have a parrot (a loud one at that), 2 hamsters and a mouse even though the lease says pets are not allowed. Could I somehow use that to get out of my lease? Would it be possible to replace myself with someone else on the lease without their permission? I need help!

    Default New Roommate

Generally speaking, there is an implied requirement that your roommates be reasonable in rejecting proposed alternate roommates. If they are being difficult, invite them to select a new roommate they find acceptable.
