Default Can I Get My "Failed to Stop at a Stop Sign" Lowered or Dropped

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Pennsylvania

Going to college this morning, I was pulled over for "Def. failed to stop at posted stop sign".

I came to the 4 way stop sign in neutral (I drive a stick), stopped at the line and waited long enough to see nothing was coming in any direction, and went into 1st gear. Two minutes later, the police car was behind me. Two cars in front of me did the same thing and they were obviously not pulled over.

This is the first offense i've ever recieved and think it's unneccisary to charge $108 for this..is there anyway to get the ticket cost lowered or dropped altogether? Or should I just leave it alone and pay for it?

Also, the cop said something about not having to pay it until after the holidays...what would she be talking about and is there a way to do this?

"Those other cars did it and didn't get in trouble" is not a defense. Pay the ticket and be done with it.

To determine when you should pay, check your ticket. There is usually a telephone number. Call it and ask.

In PA you have 10 days to respond to the citation.

    Responding is;

Paying the ticket or entering into a payment plan.

    OR

Pleading "not guilty" and requesting a hearing, then attending the hearing.

If you do not take either of those two steps your license can and will be suspended. It will then cost you an extra $25 with PennDOT to get your license un-suspended after you take one of those two steps.

Before taking either of those steps you should know what "price" you will be paying beyond the cost of the ticket.

3323(b) Failure to stop for stop sign 3 Points
Pennsylvania Points leading to increased insurance premiums or a suspended license. You said this was your first ticket so you should not have any prior points.

But you need to be careful because you can easily hit the six point mark and get your license suspended.

If I were you I would talk to some representation in your area and seriously weigh out the cost of paying a lawyer to the cost of the points on your record.

    Good luck!
    Vince
