My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: DC
Ok to keep it short...
I quit my job in DC in early July and applied for unemployment benefits in late August. I was denied and filed an appeal. My date has been set for next week by phone.
My lease ended at the end of June. My roommate moved to NY for a residency position. I, no longer being able to afford rent on my own was set to move in with my partner. He was on a leave of absence from his job, but due to the tough economic times, the company was unable to offer him his job back after the LOA ended in May/June. He was forced with the decision to move back to his hometown in GA. So he and I are now living with a friend due to our situation. I had nowhere to live in DC and no way to be able to afford the rent and other costs of living on my own, So I had to quit my job and move to GA with him and look for work down here, even though I wanted to stay in DC and keep my job (note: his family is from here and my family is from PA and there were no available friends to live with; so either way I was going to have to move out of state). I still haven't found work 5 months later.
I know it doesn't hurt to appeal bc/ you can't have the possibility of winning if you don't try. But I was just wondering about my odds. I know I voluntarily quit, but is it with good reason? Do I have a good case? and what should I provide in terms of evidence/testimony to help my case?
Thanks
