My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan
The other day, I was at a rock concert. Pushing and shoving is expected. There were a few people behind me using my back as an arm rest, and digging their elbows into my back and kicking me. I turned around a few times, and told them to stop. I got fed up after the 4th time, and told them if it happens one more time, I'm going to push my body back really hard. They kept on, and I pushed my body back, not even 2 seconds later, I got punched in the back of the head. I turned around, angry as hell, and threw a punch, and it ended up being a girl.
I'm not one to hit on girls, but with my experience, if someone hits you once, their going to hit you again and I was merely defending myself.
Security guard kicks me out. My friends are stuck inside, and I didn't bring a car, so I called a friend of mine to pick me up. I'm standing in front of the venue, and 5 huge security guards rush me and pretty much push me around. They take me inside, surround me, and pretty much intimidate me saying "I hate woman beaters," and "my mom got killed by her asshole boyfriend," and other comments to scare me.
They called the police, and they took my side of the story, and her's. The officer told me we had two different stories, and since they did not witness it happen, they could not arrest me. I was also told that she may press charges.
About an hour and a half later, I was free to go. I had to call my friend, and tell him that I wasn't going to jail and that I still needed him to pick me up.
I was in downtown Detroit, and had to pee really badly, and couldn't find a public restroom, and found a convenient ally to relieve myself in. Not a good idea, but I figured, my day couldn't get any worse.
As I walk out into the street, 3 of the security guards from the venue, clearly dressed in uniform, were walking towards me. They stopped and just looked at me. One of them was guarding my until the cops came, and 2 I hadn't seen until now. I asked if they still needed me. They said what for. I told them for the incident that happened earlier and they asked what incident. They kept questioning until I said that I unintentionally hit a girl. They then starting asking me if I thought I was a tough guy beating on a girl, and I told them, "hey look, it was an accident, I got hit from behind and threw a punch unknowingly of who would get hurt." They then looked around, making sure no one was around, and dragged me into the ally, where they threw me to the ground, stomped on my head, legs and ribs.
After a good 10 seconds, I got up, and called the cops. The same officers who dealt with the earlier incident dealt with this one. They took down my statement, and I showed them the cuts on my hands, the cut on my lip, and I complained of a major headache. They told me to await the call of an investigator and pursue pressing charges if I wanted to.
Pretty messed up night I guess...I'm 20, and the girl ended up being 15. I've never been in trouble with the law, except for traffic violations.
Now, my question is, if the girl wants to press charges, after not being arrested, can I be charged in a criminal court or a civil court. What's the worst I can expect. Also, in my situation, what can I do about the security guards who jumped me? Can I relate the two into one case?
What would you do?
Thanks in advance!
And please, don't reply and call me a women abuser because I'm not. Like I stated above, I accidentally hit her not knowing it was a girl.
