My question involves paternity law for the State of: Georgia
I have a ten month old daughter. When I got pregnant I knew that there were a couple potential fathers but throughout the pregnancy ultrasounds and other things led me to believe that one of them was more likely to be the father. Therefore, when the baby was born, he signed the birth certificate. Recently the other potential ordered a paternity test and we found out that according to his non-legal $79 test, he is the father. I have yet to see the actual results online but I would personally like to do another one and pay to get all the legal paperwork to take him to court and have him deny all paternity rights over the child. Her father at the moment loves her more than anything and so does his family. The man who just recently thinks he is the father is currently going through a divorce and I want nothing to do with him and from what i've heard he doesnt want to have anything to do with my daughter.
DO we need to go to court in order to have him give up all rights or can it just stay how it is with Georgia presuming that the man on the birth certificate is her father?
