My question involves divorce in the State of: TX
I am currently living in the family home and my ex-spouse has been living elsewhere for over a year. The house is owned by both of us and the agreement in the divorce was to split the profit from the sale of the house evenly. There is no stipulation in the divorce as to when or how soon the house must be sold. My question is, can my ex-spouse force the sale of the house to get his/her share of the profit if I am in disagreement? Or, can I stay put until I am ready to move? With the housing market down I want to get what the house is truely worth, and not have to move until I am ready. Any thoughts?
