My question involves criminal law for the state of: WI
My husband and I were having an argument. He held me back, attempted to stop me from leaving a room, let me go, then later ended up punching a door. He knocked over a painting and then I left the house. A neighbor overheard, saw me in the car around the corner just cooling off, came over, and called the police. I was on my way to work when the police came, asked me to come back to verify that I was all right. I thought I had to come back to clear him so they knew I was fine. When I came back I explained what happened. They THEN informed me that I was giving a statement and that he was being arrested because I had corroborated what he had just said.
Now he is being charged with disorderly conduct. This is a first offense. Any ideas for how we can get this to not show up on his record?
Should we get an attorney? This was an isolated incident and I am sorry I ever let anyone else get involved.
