    Default Civil Demand Problem

im from california and i was given a civil demand case to pay off $625.

It says on the letter "you may stop a lawsuit from being filed and settle this matter by making payment to us in the amount of $625.00 within ten days of the date of this letter" but i sent it in about 2 days later. are they still going to chew me out??

plus i received the letter about 3 days after the date on the letter. i feel like i want to take them out on this because they shortened my time to submit it. plus the firm never answers the phone

    PLEASE HELP!!!

    Most likely not.

It's not uncommon for such firms to state "you have ten days" in their letter, then not do anything for another week or so after the tenth day, mostly to account for mail service.

They can't sue you for paying a civil demand two days late. Relax.
