Wink Can NJ Take Action on Valid PA License with NY License Suspension

Noticed recieved that NY license will be suspended now. Obtained PA license for last two years before action taken on NY license while appealing case. Can NJ find info on NY license suspension if stopped? What action can NJ officer or state NJ take?
Just to verify... I think I can drive in PA until license expires(which is clean). I know I can not drive in NY. But what damage can NJ inflict.

From what I've read, if NJ finds that our NY license is suspened, they may, and most likely will, follow suit and do the same.

What was your NY license suspended for?

Thanks for the response. My License accumulated the maximum points for suspension...ie minor speeding infractions etc.
If I understand correctly, even though I do not live in New Jersey( I live in PA), and do not hold a New Jersey License(I hold a valid clean PA License), NJ will issue a ticket for driving with a suspension in New York and send info to PA? I assume this will prevent me from driving in NJ?... I'm confused.

After checking PA DMV, they will not suspend a valid PA license until expiration, but they will not renew until suspension is resolved.

The problem is that the suspension is probably reported to NCIC. Therefore, if you are stopped in NJ, it is likely you will be issued a ticket for DWS. Since you do have a valid PA license, they may not take you to jail.

I also question the answer you received from the PA DMV. Usually when you are suspended in one state, you are suspended in all states.

I am shocked. The suspension is not for DWI and I was under the impression this violation was reported to NDR instead.

Here is the link to PA Q.A. page. http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/faq/faq-ndr.shtml:

Problem with link. You may paste www.dmv.state.pa.us and go search faq suspension.

I need some one to tell me if I'm reading this wrong.

Yes, the NCIC thing confuses me as well. It is the National Driving Register that the suspension is reported to. This is so that if the person tries to spply for a license in another State they will be denied due to the suspension in the state where the offense occured or license is held...or both. The PA license is nothing more than a piece of plastic in your pocket. It is absolutely NOT valid in the sense that you are suspended elsewhere and it is up to the way law enforcement runs your information as to whether or not they find the suspension in another State. If they run your PA license number through PA's DMV it would come back ok but if they run you by name, DOB, etc nationwide they will find that suspension and depending on the STate, could arrest you.

Thank you. That's what I thought.
Taking things absolutely safe, I need anyone to inform me if the quoted Q&A from PA website means that even if I have NY license suspension yet hold a valid PA license obtained before action taken on NY license, I can still drive in PA. A conspicuous loop hole I'm hoping is actually real or am I dreaming.

    The following taken from http://www.dot3.state.pa.us/faq/faq-ndr.shtml
the link has a problem but you can paste http://www.dot3.state.pa.us and search NDR faq

    "
I received a notification letter from PennDOT stating that I have a sanction in another state, but PennDOT also mailed me a renewal application, does this mean I am still able to renew?

You must first reconcile your sanction with the other state(s). PennDOT has mailed you a renewal application in anticipation of you taking the necessary steps to clear your driving record in the other state(s). If you submit your application while your driving privilege is still sanctioned in another state(s), PennDOT will be unable to renew your driver’s license. PennDOT will not renew your driver’s license until NDR shows your driving record is clear in all states.

Can I still drive in Pennsylvania?

Yes. If you have a current PA driver’s license in your possession, if your PA driver’s license is not expired and if your PA driving privilege is not otherwise suspended, you may continue to drive in Pennsylvania."

Oh little thanks to very rare reasonably minded bureaucracy in this land of the free.
I clearly understand the thinking behind getting dangerous drivers off the road. But that should be for reserved for extreme cases ie. DUI, leaving the site of accidents, back child payments, excessive speeding ie. 16mph over, felons etc.

Putting someone in jail for not paying tickets......pleeease!!!
