Default Violation: "Failed To Use Designated Lane"

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: New York

Main Question: Should I plead guilty or not guilty and what possible outcome I can foresee from those options?

On 11/6/08 at 11pm, I was driving on this small country two lane road, I had no traffic signs, so I slowed down and made a left turn on to another two lane road. That road had a Stop sign. At the same time I was turning, the police car pulled to the stop on that road. As soon as I made the turn, she turn on her light and pulled me over. She told me that I almost hit the car, and gave me the following ticket:

Violation of - "NYS V AND T LAW"
    Section Sub Section - "1128C"
Description of Violation - "Failed To use Designated Lane"

The ticket has two different instructions: one to file before 11/24 8pm entered by the officer, the other in small print, that I must file within 48 hours if I want to plead non guilty. Does this makes the ticket invalid? Which instructions should I follow?

Here is the law that I found, but I am not sure how it applies to me

1128. Driving on roadways laned for traffic. Whenever any roadway
has been divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic the
following rules in addition to all others consistent herewith shall
    apply:
    (c) When official traffic-control devices direct slow-moving traffic,
trucks, buses or specified types of vehicles to use a designated lane or
designate those lanes to be used by traffic moving in a particular
direction regardless of the center of the roadway, drivers of vehicles
shall obey the directions of every such sign, signal or marking.

    Thank you in advance,
    L

Default Re: Violation: "Failed To Use Designated Lane"

    Hi,
I live in Santa Clara in CA and yesterday I received a ticket (21655.5b). I think it is unfair.
I right turned on San Tomas EXPY and the carpool lane on the right side. It was only less one block (<0.3mile) including the speed up from 0 mile to 35-40 miles/hr until I found a open space. But police office gave a ticket. During talking with me, he did not know I turned on the EXPY just last intersection, thought I turned on another intersection. But he still thought I had time to merge onto normal lane. I think right now the policeman is crazy maybe due to the ecnomics problem in CA? Please give some advice.
