My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: South Carolina, Texas & New Jersey. Husband dying any day now from Cancer. Left my 17 yr. old son & me without life insurance (he was cheap & cancelled policy). Took a $100,000.00 loss on the sale of our defective NJ property (to cheap to get home inspection when we purchased). Moved us to South Carolina. I gave up two good paying jobs in NJ. I lost my health benefits for son & self. We moved into a small home we bought for our minor son as an investment for him. SC home is in husband & my name (Joint tenants with rights of survivorship). I can't find work in my field. I get no pension when he dies & am to young (50 yrs) to get SSI. We were living on his SSI & pension (barely making it). he is leaving me with mortgage, 2 car payments & 17,000.00 credit card debt. Husband made arrangements to go & stay with his sister & her husband in Texas. After 1 day of his arrival sister hired nurses & aides 8 to 10 hrs a day to stay with him, as he is not safe alone. That was not an option WE CAN'T AFFORD IT, she has taken at least medical power of attorney. & his SSI. There was a mild reference made to take my son's home & stick me with all the medical bills. He has outstanding medical bills from NJ, SC & TX. I am in SC with 17 yr. old son, broke, scared and no friends or support system. Called many lawyers (can't afford them). Forget legal aid can't get through. Please help. It has stripped me of everything. I will moved after son graduates high school this June. PLEASE review your life insurance. PLEASE!
