Default Seeking Angle on Commercial Bankruptcy Process

At some point, early on in the commercial bankruptcy
process, a firm is usually brought in to inventory assets
and help ensure that employees don't walk off with the
goods. Given that many businesses now have a significant
share of intellectual property assets (source code, patents,
research), who (if anyone) is brought in to protect and
    evaluate those?

My firm has a tremendous amount of technology background in
various disciplines and I'm trying to figure out if there's
an opportunity for us to capitalize on our expertise here.

I suggest that you approach the lawyers who work as bankruptcy trustees for areas where you are considering offering these services, and make your pitch.
