My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia
I recieved a MIP in April in Georgia via Admission (not really, but somehow the cop construed my words so that it looked like I did). I was never arrested, or given a breathalyzer.
I went to court the date it said, etc. and before I even went before the judge, he was explaining all the cases in general and said that if the number on your ticket started with a "16" that you could not proceed without hiring an attorney. When he said this I was very confused because I have had some friends who also got MIP's and they got off with a fine and community service.
I then hired a lwayer (cost me $2500), and now I am doing a DUI risk reduction class, Alcohol/Substance Evaluation, and community service.
For some reason I feel like I am being cheated VERY badly on this case.
