My question involves criminal law for the state of: Arizona
I have never been arrested for anything, one traffic ticket, but thats it. I was arrested about 2 months ago because a cop came up on me and my friends smoking marijuana in my car...not actually doing it but after. He said that we looked "suspicious" and the smelled it. I had a pipe on me, some weed, and a scale. He took me to the station and questioned me, took my fingerprints and all that jazz. He said something about how he was having issues deciding what to do with me (what ever that means) because I'm a student and have no prior infractions and have been cooperating. Then he said something along the lines of I have up to 5 years to turn these papers in blah blah. And also something about IF he sees me in the PD again. Sorry about the fragments...I was very stressed and mentally freaking out the whole time.
But after all it was done he sent me on my way, but he didnt give me any papers or anything. I've talked to friends who have had similar charges and they said they left with a paper with the pre-court date on it and stuff.
So what does that mean? Can someone make sense of this mess?
thanks.
