Default Homeowner's Right to Use Force

My boyfriends daughter lived with us for 2 years (living hell) and has now been moved back to her mothers. She is 16 almost 17 years old. While she was here she had threatened to 'get me' due to my telling her father of things I had caught her lying about or whatever. She's not a very bright person and extremely self centered so I wouldn't put it past her to someday try to live up to her threats. I'm not afraid of her but I sure don't want to go to jail or have charges against me because she's a minor. So my question is what I can or cannot do if she was to come to my home and threaten me with a weapon in my home or on my property (we live in the country, so we don't have neighbors or patrolling). Can I get physical with her if she comes at me without getting in trouble for hitting or injuring a minor? I will not cower from her or give her what she wants.

    Default Boyfriend's Mean Daughter

I don't think you are likely to get a green light to use force here; if you want that type of advice, you need to consult a lawyer. Short of that, you can educate yourself as to what constitutes self-defense under the laws of your state, and make the decision for yourself as to what to do in the unlikely event that the girl threatens you.
