My question involves a traffic accident in the State of: Florida.
I think i'm being taken for, the accident was my fault. I stopped at the stop sign, I saw noone and pulled out. As I did a car appeared and I hit it. Inside the car were 5 occupants. A black female(22yrs old) driver, a black male passenger(approx 25 years old), and in the back were at least 3 kids from what I saw. We pulled to the side of the road, I called 911 and walked around both vehicles to inspect damage. There was a scrape on my bumper and I pushed in her back left door of her 1997 Taurus. While I was on the phone the driver took the kids and walked down the road(she lived 1/2 block away), when the officer arrived, she was not there, she walked up 5 minutes later. Is that considered leaving the scene of the accident, trying to hide the fact that your kids were not in car seats. I received 2 sheets of paper from the officer, a failure to yield with a $141.00 fine and a white form that at the top has 3 boxes, 1) information sheet
2) accident form
3) I forgot what this said, however the 1st box was checked. As I was reading the form it states nothing of her passengers in the car, however that block is left blank. While the officer was writing it up, the female driver asked me if there was a way to not get the insurance company involved. On the form it showed I received @ $100 in damages and she received @ $3000 in damages. Am I being taken for, what are my options? If you need more info or have any questions, just reply and I'll answer. Thank You.
