My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: N/A
Hi,
I was interested in renting a commercial property and I contacted the landlord. I saw the lease and the terms were very unfavorable for me. I had to go back and forth with the landlord and try to make her take away or modify some of the terms. The landlord hired a lawyer to draft a customized lease. Amongst the clauses, there was one that stated: the tenant will be responsible to pay for the lawyer fees for customizing the lease.
Even with the new lease, the terms are still very unfavorable. So I decided not to rent it anymore.
Now, the lawyer is chasing after me for the lawyer fees. I'm not the official tenant and I didnt sign the lease, should I be held responsible for the lawyer fees? Please help.
Thank you.
