My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California
My insurance company erroneously refused to pay for a routine doctor's visit. The doctor's office sent the bill to a collections agency. After many phone calls on my part, the insurance company paid the doctor's office. However, being an insurance company, it paid only a portion of the bill sent to the collections agency.
I spoke with the doctor's office at the time of payment, and they told me they were satisfied and that they contacted the collections agency and told them as much.
However, two months later, I am being contacted by the collections agency and told they still have an open account for the balance of the bill. Am I required to pay this?
