    Default Battery charges

There was a fight in a local bar. A man started pushing the female bartender. Several others jumped in to protect the woman. It ended up in a huge bar brawl with only two being charged with battery. No other charges were filed. The two charged were not allowed to tell their side on the incident. The man who started the fight was not charged with anything and sent on his way. The girl fled the scene before the police arrived. There is a video wich shows others involved. It does not show the complete incident since there were blind spots on the tape in some areas of the bar. The majority of those involved left the scene. The town police came instructing everyone to leave. When the countly police came they arrested two yound men who had not driven away due to their intoxication and did not feel safe driving. What is the penalty for this charge? Would a lawyer make a difference? The boys really cannot afford a lawyer. Any advise/information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Default Battery Charges

What specific charge was filed against them? (There are a number of different types of battery.)

If they cannot afford a criminal defense lawyer, they should consider petitioning the court for an appointed lawyer or public defender.

    Default Battery charges

They just told them battery. The officer told him that the $100 bail would probably be applied to his fine and that should be it... I will believe it when I see it. Do you really think this could be handled so easily?
