My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Tennessee
I recently missed a day because of a family emergency. It was a in the middle of a big deadline. But I called in on the weekend to ask for Monday off. I received a voice mail telling me to do what I had to do.
When I returned to work Tuesday I saw my co-worker in the parking lot first and she told me I would be written up for an unexcused absence. Which is exactly what happened.
What is my expectation of privacy? Shouldn't these matters be confidential, only involving management/supervisors/hr? When I asked my manager he denied and dismissed it.
