Mr. Horn committed murder, plain and simple. Texas is a scary place. Vigilante justice reigns.
Welcome to the 1860s.
Or Alabama and Mississippi of the 1960s ...

That's been your only point throughout this debate as he fled he touched MR horn's grass therefore Mr. Horn was justified in shooting a fleeing unarmed man in the back. That's absurd had it happened anywhere else in Texas he would have faced charges. The only reason he wasn't tried is because after the debacle in the Attorney General's office they were not willing to ruffle feathers.
I prefer the rule of law ... tomorrow, the guy may just decide he doesn't like the color of your car and a grand jury might agree with him and not indict. If we buy the theory of jury nullification, then we should have never gone after those poor, racist bigots in Alabama and Mississippi that murdered civil rights workers and minorities. After all, the same thing happened there.
I think it would be a hoot if the feds stepped in where TX justice would not. Since it appears vigilante-ism is alive and well, something has to be done to re-impose the rule of law.

READ the definition of trespass. It does not mean you can kill someone that steps onto your property!
What next, shoot a kid who retrieves his ball from your lawn? Gun emplacements on the patio?
These guys did not remain on the property, they were not trespassing or threatening Mr. Horn, and they were - in fact - fleeing! If you listen to the phone call, it is quite clear that he set out to execute these men. he did not attempt to detain them for police, he was not defending himself, he was executing them.

I think the Horn case represents society's growing intolerance of crime and weak justice systems. I do not believe fearing loss of life really came into play and I do not think he should have been tried on the merits.
I have been broke into and I have been attacked in my own home. Would I do what Horn did? Absolutely.
Cops that refuse to do much, DAs that refuse to file charges and judges passing out little to no time for convicts is what puts people in the frame of mind to carry out justice on their own.
Horn watched these guys commit a crime and he acted acordingly. The law sided with him. I side with him. Now, there are two less thieves stealing from us and there are two less people we have to feed for a few days while they sit in jail. There are two less families to have members of embarassment.
It is done and over. Thank you Mr Horn.
The law didn't side with him. He broke the law. The grand jury ignored the law, and the jurors broke their oaths to uphold the law. Stupid people and lawbreakers unite? There's no joy in that.
