    Default Paying a Judgement

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Minnesota

I have agreed to pay a settlement to an attorney who holds 2 judgements against me and I received a letter from him that has the 2 accounts that will be settled and the body of the letter says:

"This letter is written to confirm the we have agreed to settle the above mentioned files for a one time payment of $(x,xxx). Payment is due on or before Oct. 30,2008. Payment shall be made payable to (Firm's name). Upon Funds clearing the bank we will issue Satisfactions of the judgements that were entered."

Then it is signed by the attorney. Am I safe with this letter that they cannot resell the debt or ganish wages or my bank account or anything? I just pay it and it's all done with?

Also, I have been reading and everyone says to not send a personal check. How do I pay this and how will I then know they got the money?

    Thanks
