My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland
My boyfriend was out with his friends at one of their houses. They were drinking and smoking marijuana. The cops showed up after a neighbor called to report that they saw a group of guys go into the house. My boyfriend was charged with providing alcohol to a minor. The truth is, my boyfriend never did provide alcohol to the monir, but is being charged with it because the minor told the cops he did. Along with this charge, my boyfriend is being charged with possession of paraphernilia with intend to use. He is 22 and this is his first offense.
My questions are:
Is there anything that he can do to get the charges of providing alcohol to a minor dropped because it is untrue and there is a lack of supporting evidence?
If he is charged with providing a minor with alcohol, what will it result in? Will he just get probation and a fine?
What can result from the charge of possession of paraphernilia? Will he just get probation and a fine?
