    Default Emancipation Rights in Minnesota

I'm a 16 year old female in Minnesota. I've read that the only way you can be emancipated in Minnesota is by parental consent or marriage...but since neither of those are happening...I was wondering what would happen with my situation:

My mom remarried after we moved to Minnesota. We're originally from Texas, but my father is now deceased. (Mother divorced him, and left Texas) My step-father adopted me (I took his last name.) About a year ago, he beat me and I called the police and he went to jail. I have pictures for evidence. A restraining order was filed, but both he and my mother ignored it and I was forced to stay upstairs while he was in the house (which was all the time.) Anyways, I'm pretty much miserable here, but I have family in Texas that has offered to take me in. I have a huge support system in Texas. I was just wondering what my chances of being legally emancipated are. Any info will help, thanks.

Perhaps you should discuss your situation with a guidance counselor at school, or if you have a social worker assigned to your situation following the battery, with that social worker.
