Default Getting Rid of Shoplifting Charge on Background Checks

My question involves a background check in the State of: Massachusetts

In august of this year, I was caught shoplifting a $10 item by supermarket security. I was told to sign a letter to never trespass the property again and also paid a $150 fine. However, it now appears on my background check when I apply for work. Can I get rid of it?

Not this soon. Maybe in a few years.

Duplicate post and he never answered my original question. Seems the OP is fishing.

My question to him was that, if neither law enforcement or the courts were involved (police not called so no police report, no arrest, no court hearing, etc.) and he was simply ordered to pay a civil demand, how did it become a matter of criminal record?

There is a national retail data base that contains nearly 45,000 "applicants" with records of theft…most of whom cannot be found in standard public records because they were never prosecuted. The stores report the theft to it. It contains exclusive information shared only between members. (member stores)

If the prospective employer is a member & does a check of this data base, your record should show up on this background check if the store you shoplifted from is a member & reported the theft.

There was a person on these boards a month or so ago who passed a
criminal background check, but appeared on the Retailer Database
(for an offense two years prior) and was denied the job

Once you get on the retailer database, it is almost impossible to get off.

In fact, save for those that were accused incorrectly, I have never heard of anyone petitioning to get their name off the list successfully.

And I have been in and around retailers for over 20 years.

supposedly, a name drops off after 7 years, but, as far as I know, there is no hard and fast rule about database maintenance.
