A Judge most likely will rather you stay in school. Supporting yourself 100% is just one of the requirements. You need to have a valid reason why this would be in the best of your interest.
In his state, remaining in school cuts against emancipation.

    Observe,

(ii) Voluntarily moves from the home of the custodial parent or guardian, establishes independent living arrangements, obtains full-time employment and discontinues educational endeavors prior to attaining the age of twenty-one (21) years, or

To get emancipated, which isn't very common anyway, you have to show not what you will do, but what you have done: paid your own bills including food, rent, electric, water, transportation.

Basically, you have to show that you already do all the stuff other adults do, not that you have friends or a plan to do it if you get the emancipation proclamation.

That has to do with Emancipation in regards to a child support order.

No judge in any jurisdiction is going to emancipate you so that you can go live with your 19 year old boyfriend.

    Not going to happen.

    Ever.

Actually none of this matters since Emancipation in Mississippi only pertains to contracts with Real Estate.

    I know.

I just like reminding petulant children that the judges are on the parents' side when it comes to these things.

Right. As in the parent is no longer required to pay for their child. As in their child must now pay his/her own way. As in the child must act as adult.

The statute is long and convoluted, sweeping in many instances, so I might well be misreading it.

This is why I posted this link earlier on in this thread.

The statute speaks about emancipation as a foredrawn conclusion, which of course it is if the child reaches the age of majority. But there do seem, to me, to be instances assumed in its construction which leaves open the possibility of emancipation under the age of majority.

Perhaps you've found a law I didn't run across about real estate being the only form of emancipation in Mississippi. If so, please post a link to it.
