My question involves defamation in the state of: Ohio-Tennessee
I live in Tennessee, my husband's ex lives in Ohio. Since our marriage 5 years ago she has been telling her children & anyone else who will listen to her that I embezzled money from her and that I have impersonated her @ her bank to get money out of her bank account. Most recently she has been emailing my husband and myself accusing me of these same things. She claims to have spoken to prosecutors both in Ohio & Tennessee. She calls me vile names and claims I have a sexually promiscuous personality and that I am a piece of "white trash" who never pays her bills. She tells everyone that my husband has broken every law in Ohio and is going to be on the Ohio's Most Wanted List. I have several phone recordings of her saying these same things, although I have finally had my home phone disconnected. She emails me that she is watching my activities on websites I have joined--for example I joined a local book-club & signed up on line. I checked the site and she is listed as one of my visitors. I sent her a cease and desist letter some time ago, but she claims she is immune from having to abide by it because my husband owes her back spousal support (no child support-children are all grown) & her contact is her pursuit of payment of a bill. I am now on anxiety medication as a direct result of all this harassment. What can I do??? I live in Tennesssee. If I file charges do I do it here or do I have to go to Ohio where she lives? Thanks for your advice!
