    Default Any Options?

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Nevada

I'm coming here today to see what options I have for where I live. I currently live with my mother and she has full custody of my bother and I. I've done my research and have learned that in Nevada you have to have your parents permission to get emancipated(so that's not an option). So my question is what are my options? It's not just the living conditions at my house its my mothers actions. She is doing drugs really bad, not around us, but we can tell. She is in fear that we might be evicted here coming soon, and many more things. I have a wonderful family that has said that they would take us in if my mother would consent; but that wouldn't ever happen. So im just wondering what kind of options I have? Any advice is greatly appreciated; thank you in advance. I am 16 and my brother is 14, btw.

You need to call child protection services. This will be the quickest way to get in a safe environment.

If I called them, what would they do? Would they let us live with a family member or a trusted friend of the family? Or would they just throw us in a group home?

CPS usually prefers to place children with family members whenever possible. If you have such family in the area, and they don't have other issues likely to make CPS think twice, AND they are willing to take you in, that's the most likely route.

Other family members or others who are willing to provide for you can also petition in your local probate court to become your legal guardian against mom's wishes. Check the website for your county court under the probate area - most give good outlines of how to bring your request to the court and tell you what forms and fees are needed.
