Default Deferred Sentence and "Nolo Contendre"

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Mexico

    Hi,
Many years ago I was arrested and plead "no contest" to a felony charge and received a deferred sentence. My understanding is that the charges were dropped and all that remains is an arrest record. However, on job applications that ask "Have you ever plead no contest/nolo contendre to a charge?" can I answer "no" since the charges were ultimately dropped?

Default Re: Deferred Sentence and "Nolo Contendre"

Well, you just told us, "I was arrested and plead 'no contest' to a felony charge", so that would mean the answer to the question "Have you ever plead no contest/nolo contendre to a charge" is "yes".

What type of job application are we talking about? e.g., public or private employer? Law enforcement-related? Health care, or child care?
