My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Florida
Midland Funding LLC sent me to arbitration on a bill that I allegedly owed from Verizon over 5 years ago. To my recollection, I closed the account with Verizon and I owed them $0.00. Midland harrassed me and sent me to arbitration on December 19, 2007. I responded to Midland and American Arbitration Association on January 2, 2008 via certified mail contesting the account. American Arbitration received the certified letter on January 7th but Midland refused acceptance.
On September 15, 2008 I received a bill from a new collection agency Leading Edge Recovery Solution located in Chicago, IL. They are demanding payment. Apparently Midland sold this account to them. But this account was in the middle of Arbitration. I never heard from American Arbitration Association nor Midland and now I get this new collection agency contacting me by mail.
As far as I'm concerned this account is being challenged in arbitration and should had never been sold.
I sent Leading Edge a letter advising them that as far as my knowledge this account was under arbitration and should had never been sold to a new collections agency.
what should I do next?
