My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana
Hi, I recently found out that a guy I have been seeing was accused of molesting his cousin when they were children. He is 38 now, and according to what I have been told this was filed about 6 years ago, and he is just now serving his time for it, which amounted to 30 hours of community service and 6 months of probation. The charge was something to the affect of fondling a minor, but they were both minors at the time, according to the information I received he was about 10 and she was about 4 or so. So, this was nearly 30 years ago, and yet he was just charged with it. Is there a statute of limitations on something like this? And why would they reduce the sentence from molestation? He, according to the person I got the information from is innocent. I am not even sure if the information I have is the truth. I do know that there was a charge, it was in the paper. At this point this is all I know, any help would be greatly appreciated.
