Default Am I Being Lied To?

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana

Hi, I recently found out that a guy I have been seeing was accused of molesting his cousin when they were children. He is 38 now, and according to what I have been told this was filed about 6 years ago, and he is just now serving his time for it, which amounted to 30 hours of community service and 6 months of probation. The charge was something to the affect of fondling a minor, but they were both minors at the time, according to the information I received he was about 10 and she was about 4 or so. So, this was nearly 30 years ago, and yet he was just charged with it. Is there a statute of limitations on something like this? And why would they reduce the sentence from molestation? He, according to the person I got the information from is innocent. I am not even sure if the information I have is the truth. I do know that there was a charge, it was in the paper. At this point this is all I know, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aaron directed you the site where you can research some information yourself and maybe learn what you were hoping for or, perhaps, what you don't want to know.

You can always go get court transcripts yourself and see what happened in the courtroom at his trial. May cost a few bucks now, and maybe save even more in the future.

Honestly, 30 years is a very long time to prosecute anyone for something like this happening between two minors.

Just wondering if it is possible to go through with the charges after so many years?

Again, considering time elasped and the fact two very young minors were involved, most likely nothing ever came of it. But, I cannot be certain as other circumstances could factor in.

Go to the court that handled the case and ask. Its that easy.
