My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Kentucky
This is my first post, and I'm perusing other posts similar to my circumstances. So first off, thank you for your time!
About a month and a half ago, I received a statement of collection from a debt of about 7 years ago which was originally around $4500. I found out I had, I believe, 23 days to respond. I found out my place of employment offers an assistance program, which includes some limited legal advice. Through that, I contacted a lawyer and he composed a response basically denying all of the collection agency's claims. I mailed the agency a copy and filed a copy with the courts.
Last Friday I received a letter from the agency which is asking me to answer a bunch of questions like confirming my employer, and a sections called 'Admissions' I think. Where they ask me to confirm that I did in fact borrow this money in the past, and other questions designed to make me admit guilt.
Now admittedly, I did charge up this card many years ago. Over 7 years ago to be exact. And I recently ran my credit reports, and I only have 1 collection on it for $55 to a local bank I didn't know about. That's easily taken care of. So, can I fight them with SOL? Should I? Can someone give me some insight on how I should proceed?
I'll have the documentation in hand this afternoon if anyone needs exact terminology.
Much thanks!
