My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
I currently work for a company in the Healthcare industry. I am pursuing other employment opportunities because I feel my supervisor likes to bully, intimidate and humiliate me. There have been three times when she has yelled at me and used profanity. Of course, she doesn't do it in front of other people.
My concern at this point when I am applying for new jobs, before they hire you will want to speak to your current employer. I don't want my current employer to know that I am looking for a job because I'm afraid I will be subjected to more psychological mistreatment.
I have 2 references that know me very well in my current position, one used to work for the company until he retired and the other one is a vender that works with our company. They have seen my performance.
My concern is that my current supervisor may sabotage my efforts by painting a picture that is false and misleading that may result in a position not being offered to me. Depending on what mood she is in, I'm afraid that she will blackball me.
What steps should I take to manage this situation?
