Default Driving with a Suspended License

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: CA

I used to live in Cali and moved to Arizona. Before I moved I sold my 2nd car because I didn't want to move it and store it. After I sold the car i sent in the paper work to the DMV and thought everything was OK. A few weeks later I received a letter in the mail saying the car was in impound. I called the court and told them the situation that it wasn't MY car anymore. They told me that I was still the person who was the owner of the car and the dmv probably didn't process the paperwork yet and I shouldnt worry about it that the paper work will go through. I never received any paper work again from them. I never went to get my Arizona license which in hind sight would've told me about this issue before hand.

Well Sunday I was pulled over for a rolling stop at a stop sign. The officer said my license was suspended in Cali and couldn't tell me why and gave me a ticket to appear in court and the car was towed. I received this suspended license ticket in arizona. Well I got the car out of impound and I contacted the California DMV and paid the fine today and they said my license is cleared. What penaltys should I expect from Arizona? I am going to go get my Arizona license ASAP and I have current car tags until 2010 and my insurance was current at the time i was pulled over and still is.

I have never been pulled over for anything in my life and have no jail record and I would like to keep it that way. Thanks for your time.

Get the information from the CA DMV and go in and talk to the clerk of court prior to your court date on the ticket.

    I disagree.
The sale of the car should have no impact on his privilege to drive. He isn't telling us something...

I took all my paper work to the court and had my new arizona license. The judge dismissed all charges when I told him what happened.

Grats! I know this is a relief for you.

In the future, when you sell a car or whatever, make sure you keep a copy of the transfer of title. It's best to take that in in person and turn it in and get, right then and there, any paperwork you can from the state. Don't let things float around in the mail.

Also, stop running stop signs; it's dangerous. They aren't there because they're pretty and merely a suggestion. They're there to save lives, limit damage to property and keep insurance rates low(ish). Remember, stop signs are your friends, not an inconvenience. =^_^=

Yeah its a big relief. And I know from now on to make sure all the paper work goes thru when you sell a car because you are on the hook for what ever the person does. I moved to Arizona to work for the Border Patrol and this could've ruined my chances to get in. I should find out pretty soon if I am in or not. Thanks to everyone.
