Default J1 Visa Expiring in 2 Days, Should We Get Married Before That Happens

Hi, my fiancée is here on a J1 (no 2 year req.) visa and her visa is expiring on Sept. 24th. We are planning on getting married by our friend (registered in California) on that day. We are getting the Marriage lic. today and just want to make sure we are not missing something. I know we will need to fillout the INS forms, but I think we need to get married before her vias expires.

    Thanks for the help.

It's a very, very bad idea to post time sensitive questions to an internet message board and expect to get an answer in time.

Fortunately for you, the delay in getting an answer isn't going to hurt you.

You and your wife will need to file Form I-130 and Form I-485.
