This is not the end of the world; don't let the folks on here scare you with "you'll have to flip burgers for the rest of your life." That's simply not true. Firstly your juvenile record will be sealed once you turn eighteen, so you can tell jobs you have a clean history; secondly, most jobs ask about convictions within the last 5-7 years only--thus the background check agency is not allowed to report anything else. Also, this should not interfere with college admission too much. Many schools don't even ask about a criminal record and, even if they do , that doesn't mean they automatically won't accept you. A law shool will certainly ask about convictions; an applicant for a state university into ,say, the English department won't have any trouble with a criminal record. (what the hell does a criminal record have to do with getting an education, anyway). There are high school teachers with minor criminal records, for heaven's sake! Trus me, I know this for a fact.
Please, all you folks on here stop exagerating the consequences of misdemeanors and scaring the posters.
