    Default Arizona First Time Shoplifter

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Arizona

my friend and i got arrested at Dillards at the mall. him and i total were caught with $501 in merchandise. i got 13-1805 for shoplifting, and another one which is 13-3102 because i had a switchblade on me. he only got 13-1805. i was wondering, how much do i have to pay? i know i messed up here, really bad. but do i have to pay for everything regardless if he stole it or not? i only stole a pair of pants for around 75 dollars, but they noticed he stole a 100+ dollar matching coat for me. everything else, he stole himself without my knowledge. I'm 18 by the way, what should i be prepared for?

In Arizona, you are facing a civil penalty of $250. plus the dollar amount of the merchandise you were caught with - so around a total of $751.00. Then there are the criminal charges. No one knows what will happen there. It's up to the individual courts. Az. is a state when they can prosecute and collect the civil penalty.

You will probably go to jail. You are lucky they didn't throw a theft scheme charge at you.

You didn't state how much you were individually charged with. Since you were both working in tandem - you very well could of both been charged with the full abount ($501), but you didn't give that information.

I don't recall the cops ever saying anything about it. they said, I'd probably pay a fine and that's it. And i think its the pretrial this week. or whatever its called.
