My question involves criminal law for the state of: IL - Dupage County
I am a chronic pain patient with a legitimate script for hydrocodone. Over the past several months, my pain had increased, but instead of doing the logical thing, talking to my dr., I went on the Internet and got a script for more hydrocodone. I successfully filled the prescription twice at Walgreens (2 refills each time, for a total of 6 filled scripts over 6 months). Yesterday, I brought in the new script - same dr., same amount. When I called to see if it was ready, I knew something was wrong. Then I checked online and it didn't exist. Obviously, I'm not going to pick up the script. My question is: if I don't pick it up - is it still doctor shopping? There is a paper trail between CVS and Walgreens, however, the CVS script is totally legit. Can I still be arrested? And, I have no prior criminal activity - of any kind - not even traffic tickets. What kind of arrest would I be looking at? Thank you.
