My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: Georgia
Greetings everyone,
My issue has to deal with when paid time actually starts. I am trying to find this out for a friend. He works for a bus company and the company requires that he writes on his time card that his start time is the time he makes it to the first student in the morning or to the school in the afternoon, not the time he picked up the keys up from dispatch and picked up the bus from the yard. They also have him write the end time from when he dropped the students off at the school in the am or dropped off the last student in the pm. Also, if he gets a trip lets say right after he is done with dropping the students off in the am he has to "clock out" on the time card drive with the bus to the pickup area and they "clock in" again when the students get on the bus. I personally do not think it is right that they are first of all driving the bus on their own time and second what happens if there is an accident, but the driver is not on the clock according to the company. I am wondering if this is lawful?
