My question involves criminal law for the state of:
I was charged for petty theft, for giving a key dumping a vendor coupon into the store system, allowing a man, a friend of mine as security called him, to get 27 dollars worth of groceries for free and also giving him 14 dollars cash through the machine. The coupon was for $42.08 and with the groceries, the total amount of loss amounts to $68.01. Security has me on tape, the man giving me a nod, and me nodding back before i punch in the coupon on to the main u-scan computer. I have no memory of this, and i am sure that there is more to it then just that. I have never commited any offense before, i have never even taking a nickel that wasnt mine. None of this makes any sense, i cant remember it, nor is it something i would ever do, that is the gods honest truth. I am almost 19 years old. Security and i argued for quite a while. I eventually gave in and gave a fake confession, so that i would get the minimum charge, instead of getting charged with embezzlement, a felony, and taken to jail. I gave the fake confession, and the store charged with a $115 fine, which i have paid. Also, i am now waiting for my letter to tell me when i have to go to court. The evidence points against me, so i must continue my charade, but since this is my first offense, ive never even had a ticket or anything or any warnings before, is there a chance that this will not go on my record. I do not want to pay for something i dont really remember, nor is it something i would do, and it will make it hard for me to ever get a job, and i am just starting college. If the judge is lenient, and i pay my court fines and whatever else the judge wants, can i get away with no spot on my record?
