I was not sure where to post this.
My question is: Is there a time frame during which a person can be held liable for commiting a crime? Is there a time frame after which even if a person did commit a crime in the past, he or she can not be held liable because too much time past?
I will explain the situation: my friend applied for food stamps, ICCP and medic aid and ommited the fact that she was living with a guy and did not include his income.
Now she is affraid to go to a lawyer to consult on this situation because the lawyer might turn her in to police. And she is affraid to leave the guy she is living with because he threatens that if she leaves him he will go to police and tells them that she commited a fraud.
Is there some time frame after which you can not hold a person liable for such a fraud?
thank you in advance
