Exclamation Can I Move Out when I Graduate?

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: OHIO

I am under 18 and will be until September of 2009. I am a high school senior and am dealing with many problems at home. I will graduate high school in June of 2009, so I will still be under 18.

My mom has opened her doors for me, but I live with my dad who has sole custody. When I graduate, though under 18, can i legally move out and start living with my mom?

You will have to wait until you're 18

    ...unless your Dad consents.

If your dad says yes, you can.

If your dad says no, you can't.

    Simple as that.

    CHAPTER 3109: CHILDREN

    3109.01 Age of majority.

All persons of the age of eighteen years or more, who are under no legal disability, are capable of contracting and are of full age for all purposes.

    Effective Date: 01-01-1974

If you were still in high school, even though 18, your Father is still "legally" obligated to support you.

Hang in there until you are 18 and out of HS.

    Good luck in your life.
